#tbt Still glowing from last weekend’s gala... Topher Straus’s painting sold at auction; 100% of proceeds go to Denver Center for the Performing Arts’ children’s theatre education. And to think we met +30 years ago doing “Kidskits,” as those same young, aspiring thespians he’s now benefitting... πππΆπ»π©

So, remember how I KNEW I had to be an actress when I first saw Lily Tomlin perform her one-woman show at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts? Well, I’m back! Today it’s the largest non-profit theatrical organization in the U.S., where my dear, talented artist-friend, Topher Straus (topherstraus.com) recently donated his “Elephant Eyes” in order to raise money for children’s theatre education. So basically, kids like me 30 years ago! AND now, he and I are about to see Hamilton, as part of the auction’s black-tie gala... at the SAME theatre where I first saw Lily. Nice full-circle, eh?

As we mourn iO WEST’s closing this weekend, I can’t help but wax nostalgic of my time there (‘98-‘01). While I never met my spouse there (unlike everyone else, apparently), I did make some life-long, smart, funny friends, like my girl, Kristina Hayes. Our all-girl improv group, “Powerbox” was the hot-ticket for a minute. You can see why!

Dear lighthouse life, Thank you for your thorough, albeit subjective analysis of my appearance. Beauty really IS in the eye of the beholder! Thankfully, my parents weren’t TOO disgusted, since they have the same smile and teeth and nose and wrinkles (you know, heredity). I’m lucky—being a beautiful ingenue was never part of the plan, but rather being an interesting, character actress. And well, whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it will achieve! But enough about me... who ARE YOU?? How do you have so much time on your hands?! I can only imagine how perfect your smile and nose and teeth must be! And if it’s not too personal, who hurt you? What bridge do you live under exactly? KIT! N

You know that game, “if you could have dinner with ANYONE in the world, living or dead— who would it be?” Well, that person for me— since I was age 10 and saw her do her solo show, “The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe”— was always, unquestionably, Lily Tomlin. THAT was the moment, there at the Denver Center, when I looked up at her on stage and said, “THAT’s what I want to be when I grow up.” And I never vacillated once since. Had pictures of her up in my locker, won the school talent show doing her monologues, and channelled her when I wrote & produced my own. Well, last night, it actually happened. I had dinner with my idol. (ARGENTINE STEAK-dinner, no less!) I’m done. I can die happy now! Thank you, Bob Bergen for giving me this opportunity, Patrika Darbo for making (despite the fires!) my dream come true, and to my fellow Television Academy PGEC board for your service & friendship. Enjoyed breaking bread with you too! (Just haven’t been obsessed with you for the last +30 years… till now!).

Thank you all for racing to my rescue yesterday! The get-well comments, texts, and calls all WORKED!! I feel FANTASTIC, with the one exception: knowing I have to go a week or two without Yoga. (Which FEELS like the end of the world.) But that’s not to say I don’t still have a back-log of Yoga pics to post! π€ͺππΌ Wardrobe by: Orange Cosmic Mermaid; Photo by: Koyu.
